Our speech delivers the message. Our body language validates it!

PERSONA-COACH says . . .
In this series of daily mini-videos, I will feature one specific quote taken from the Power of Persona Profiling or the PERSONA-COACH™ Certification Program.
Each quote is 100% original, authentic and unique and contains a valuable message for any Life/Business Coach!
Here’s today’s quote:
PERSONA-COACH says . . . “Our speech delivers the message. Our body language validates it”
We start to create a profile about someone in the moment we see that person.
We start to profile a person when we meet or greet.
We will expand our profile when we make further contact with that person.
But our initial profile is based on what we see in that instant and is created in the moment we see him or her.
Of course, the reverse holds true as well.
Someone will create an initial Profile about us, the moment they see us!
There are basically two ways in which we create initial profiles.
The first method is based on a crude profiling template, known as ‘stereotyping’.
We all have certain biases in favor or against a certain persona type.
These biases are typically the result of social or cultural influences.
They may also reflect our personal experiences with a certain type of individual.
As we expand our profile of a person, these biases may give way to a more comprehensive profile.
This expanded profile will either correct our initial bias or endorse it, giving further validity to our stereotype model.
The second method is based on body language.
We tend to profile a person on their mannerisms, deportment and demeanor.
It is in this area where your new Persona Profile must put its best foot forward.
It is really important that you adopt the body language of “the person who would be successful”.
What would be the deportment and demeanor of such a person?
Here are some of the more classic examples:
Sit or stand up straight means you’re attentive!
Looking down while avoiding eye contact means you’re insecure or insincere!
Arms crossed means you’re defensive!
Shoulders down means you’re relaxed!
Shoulders up means you’re tense!
Arms open means you’re inviting!
Legs crossed means you’re protective!
Legs uncrossed means you’re casual!
Hands fidgeting means you’re nervous!
Your new Persona Profile is based on the character of the “the person who would be successful”!
Your new Persona Profile is therefore the “actor” who interprets the character of “the person who would be successful”.
Your “body language” is the physical manifestation of your new Persona Profile.
On stage, an actor plays out his role by adapting his body language to the character he is playing!
You must therefore adapt your body language to the character your new Persona Profile is portraying!
